The basis step during biochemical pathways research is their reconstruction, i.e. definition of all possible connections in the system (metabolic, regulatory, signal etc). As a rule the result of such researches is detailed scheme composition of pathway being into consideration. But sometimes it is possible to make a number of interesting results about system functioning even on the basis of one scheme. For example, to assume the most probable mechanism of action of its one or another element (regulatory system, drug) or to optimize the process of potential target searches for new drugs.



Signal pathways in osteoblasts and chondrocytes

The object of research is bone and cartilaginous tissues of mammalian organism. The aim of project is to reveal signals transduction mechanism in osteoblasts and chondrocytes – in cells which play key role in formation of mature bones and cartilage. Knowledge about signal pathways will allow regulating number and functioning quality of these cells.

Signal pathways in steam cells

thumb_stem_cells_1 The mature multicellular organism in extremely well-ordered system, every part of that (cell) may be classified on type in compliance with the performed function and defined morphology. In spite of the fact that all cells (excluding germ cells) in the organism contain identical genetic information, defined group of genes may be blocked in them that define difference in various cell types functioning. Great number of research have demonstrated that, as a rule, mature cells are not be able to change their specialization, and a lot of cell types even can not divide.

Nevertheless replenishment of defined types cells (arising as a result of injury, organism growth, or natural renewal) is always required in any organism during vital functions, and mechanism of mature cells formation should exist. Practically in all higher organisms such mechanisms are realized by consistent conversion (differentiation) of special cell type, being able to divide at no allowance and to transform in other cells. Such non varied cells, giving the origin to other types, are named steam and presents in all organisms.

Reconstruction of antiapoptotic pathways in mammalian cells

Rec_NFkB_1_enIt is possible to consider presented research as first step of our group on the way of apoptosis research and, more exactly – their antagonist – antiapoptosis. We have reconstructed pathways of NFkB-dependent transcription activation - the main process defined antiapoptotic response. In the future exactly this research allowed us to start detailed kinetic model of one of the main unit of these processes.
